Morning

Morning drive up to the base camp of Paro Taktsang is the sacred Buddhist site perched on a cliffside in the upper Paro Valley. Also known as Tiger’s Nest, according to legend, the Guru Rinpoche - who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan - meditated at the site in the 8th century, riding on the back of a tigress.

Begin your hike to Tiger's Nest, a challenging yet rewarding trek that takes you through pine forests and along rocky paths. Along the way, marvel at panoramic views of the Paro valley below and the surrounding Himalayan mountains.

Afternoon

Visit Ta Dzong, built in 1651 as a watchtower and in 1968 inaugurated as Bhutan’s National Museum. The collection includes art, relics, religious thangkha paintings, postage stamps, coins and handicrafts, as well as a small natural history collection. Then walk down a short hillside trail to visit Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong), built in 1646, and now housing the offices of the district administration and Paro’s monk body. Overnight at the hotel in Paro.

This morning drive down the valley following the Pa Chu (Paro river) to its confluence with the Wang Cnu Ulnimphu river. Turn lett up the valley leading to the nation’s capital, Thimphu. n route visit Simtokha Dzong (1627), the kingdom’s oldest fortress which now houses the Institute for Language and Culture Studies.

Afternoon

Visit the National Memorial Chorten, built as a memorial to Bhutanese third king (the father of modern Bhutan) and also as a monument to world peace. Then visit Tashichhodzong, Thimphu’s most impressive building situated by the Wang Chu. It houses His Majesty’s secretariat, some ministries, and also the central monk body during the summer months. In the evening, take a stroll through Thimphu market and town. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

Visit the following as time permits: Institute for Zorig Chusum, where students learn the 13 traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan; the National Library, which houses an extensive collection of Buddhist literature, including some manuscripts dating back several hundred years; the National Institute of Traditional Medicine (outside only), where medicinal herbs are compounded and dispensed, and traditional medicine practitioners are trained; and the Folk Heritage and National Textile Museums, for fascinating insights into Bhutanese material culture and way of life.

Afternoon

Visit the government-run Handicrafts Emporium, which carries a wide range of hand-woven textiles and craft products, and browse in the bookshops and many smaller handicrafts shops around the town. Take an early evening drive up to a lookout festooned with prayer flags, for a fine view of Thimphu and the valley. Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

Today, you will travel from the capital to Panukha to visit historical sites and spiritual sanctuaries. Your journey includes a visit to a unique monument constructed over the years to appreciate the arts and architecture of Bhutan. On your way, visit Dochula Pass- The 108 Chortens were built by the present Queen Mother of Bhutan, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Indian militants and to liberate the souls of the souls lost.

Afternoon

Exlpore Punakha Dzong-Built in 1637, the dzong continues to be the winter home for the clergy, headed by Chief Abbott, the Je Khenpo. It is a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture, sitting at the fork of two rivers, portraying the image of a medieval city from a distance. And later evening check in at hotel.

Visit Chimi Lhakhang, the “Temple of Fertility”-A 20-minute' walk across terraced fields through the village of Sopsokha. Ngawang Chogyel built the temple in the 15th century after the 'divine Madman' Drukpa Kuenlay built a small chorten there.

Afternoon

Explore the suspension bridge over the Pho Chu river. And Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten-Built by the third Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck this Chorten is a splendid example of Bhutanese architecture and art and is the only one of its kind in the world. It has been built over eight and a half years, and its details have been drawn from religious scripture. Later, drive back to Paro.
